Got Burned?

When I was a kid, getting sunburned happened . . .a lot.  Not so much now that I am an adult but, my sister and my nephews are both very fair complected and burn easily.  My kids end up looking like little Indians by the end of the summer because they tan so well.  So, you can make your own after sun spray with essential oils.  I'm going to make some up and give to my sister in case herself or her boys get burned.

Below are the ingredients and why:

witch hazel: will refresh and sooth the skin, decreases any itching, and reduces the possibility of skin peeling and flaking
aloe vera gel:  keeps the skin moisturized skin, helps to decrease any signs of aging, soothe the skin, and decrease inflammation
vitamin e oil: a great antioxidant, helps fight premature aging of skin, aids in the restoration and rejuvenation of dry and dehydrated skin
fractionated coconut oil (or other carrier oil):  keeps skin moisturized
lavender essential oil:  soothes occasional skin irritations and rejuvenates skin
peppermint essential oil:  cooling
note:  peppermint essential oil is a skin irritant, so while this gives a cooling sensation and you're hot and burned, do not use too much.  You definitely don't want to end up with irritated skin on top of a burn.
Directions:
You'll take 2 Tablespoons of witch hazel and add that to a measuring cup.  Next, you'll add in 1/4 Cup of aloe vera gel.  Then, you will add 1/2 teaspoon of Vitamin E oil to the mixture followed by 2 Tablespoons of fractionated coconut oil, 10 drops of Lavender essential oil and 2 drops of Peppermint essential oil (if you will be applying this to children under 6, you will want to add spearmint oil INSTEAD of the Peppermint oil). Now you just mix well and add to a 4 ounce spray bottle and you ready to go!
